A bk can stay on your credit report for up to ten. You can expect to pay back about 40-60cents on the dollar with a debt reduction company. Debt negotiation is different than consumer credit counseling. CCCS programs require that you pay all of your money back plus interest. Debt Settlement will have you pay less than what your originally borrowed. There are consequences however. Your credit will be messed up for awhile.
The reality is that there are not to many great choices when you get into debt.
